Joceline Martin, a mother from Long Island, was eager to see how her daughters, Delaney, 9, and Drew, 5, would respond to a surprise trip to Disney World. Martin had spent months organizing the trip.
The Kids Lost Their Minds
Martin was sure the kids would see their suitcases and just lose their minds, and they really did but not in the expected way. The mom shared a TikTok video in which the unaware Delaney and Drew are shown walking home from school. Delaney is completely scared and starts to scream as Martin says that they are heading to Disney World. Drew then starts to cry and not out of joy.
Oliver, Martin’s 11-year-old son, who is invisible in the video, was aware of the surprise and he couldn’t understand the girls’ reaction either as “they’d been talking about wanting to go to Disney for like, three years.”
It Wasn’t Disney They Were Afraid Of
Although Martin was surprised by the reaction, she had an idea of what caused it and managed to keep her cool and even find the humorous side of the reaction. Her laugh can be clearly heard in the video although she says she “felt terrible” that her daughters were so scared.
“They’re both terrified of heights and that’s what set them off,” Martin says. “I think it was like, ‘I want to go to Disney — but not on an airplane.’ They were also feeding off each other.”
When Martin tells the sisters that their grandmother would meet them at the Orlando, Florida airport, they begin to cheer up in the video. Delaney is especially thrilled about the Disney shirts Martin and her husband, James, purchased for the children to wear on the flight.
In the end, the whole family made it and it was clearly a win. Delaney and Drew were “nervous,” according to Martin, but they managed to remain calm throughout the flight and then fully enjoy the attractions.
